An entire network of pipes and drains carrying all sorts from electrical wiring to sewerage and stormwater. Stormwater is essential all run off water that makes it's way to the street and into the gutters and stormwater systems, including rain, water from washing your cars etc.

The stormwater system was put in place for many reasons, mainly to prevent flooding and to minimise the amount of sedamentry water left in the street. This is cause by the impervious land cover such as driveways,roads,buildings andfootpaths which cover the ground and stop the water from soaking into the soil.

Problems

Some problems can occur in sotrmwater pipes especailly if people misuse them. When people use stormwater to flush other things away such as garbage, motor oil, and even cement blockages can occur.

A blocked stormwater drain can be very dangerous. The drain can overflow in a heavy downpour causing litres upon litres of water to flood the streets. This can be dangerous for motorist. If a drain has overflowed a plumber needs to be called to rectify this problem.
